Power System Inertia Estimation Using HVDC Power Perturbations

چکیده

This paper describes a power system inertia estimation method that utilizes perturbations caused by the flow switch on an HVDC interconnector. The analysis is performed using real measurements from Ireland's all-island system. employs energy based technique which permits non-step change to be used for calculation and encapsulates challenges associated with use of data. While it shown synchronous generators account most inertia, other contributors are also investigated, namely station auxiliary load, distributed generation demand. Time-of-day wind related effects explored. Recommendations made practical implementation method.
